Ways to Promote Your Music Online

It is pretty safe to say that just about everyone likes music. They may not like the same music as you, but they like some type of music. If you have a passion for music and you either sing yourself or you create beats, you likely want to share the content with others and you want to promote your music online.

The online platform is a great place to be able to let others know about your music and let them hear and see what it is you do each and every day. Before you can promote your music online, you need to make sure that you do it right, otherwise, your efforts will be futile.

Ways to Promote Your Music Online
If you are not a part of any social networks, it is time that you sign up now. Most everyone has a social media page and many people, both young and old, use their social media accounts daily.

When it comes to the social network you want to use, you may be able to find music based sites where people can subscribe to you or you may be able to look for other sites that allow you to showcase your personality and music.

For example, Facebook and Twitter are two of the most popular social media platforms, but you could also use YouTube or Periscope to chat with your fans.

Create a Website

Now that you have a social network in place, it is important that you create a website for your music. Your website should include information about yourself, your band, and your music. You will need to purchase a domain name that is easy to remember and that you can hand out to fans of your music.

You do want your website to look professional and you do not want it to be outdated with old information. Keeping your info current plays an important role in who contacts you and who purchases your music.

On your website, you should have pictures of yourself, your studio, and of course any CDs that you have. You can use your site as a way to funnel in sales of your products.

Offer FREE Music

If someone has never heard your music before, it is unlikely that they will simply go out and purchase your CD. This is just the way it is. You need to get your name out there and people need to know who you are.

To make this possible, you should offer FREE music to your fans and those who do not know you. There are a few ways that you can offer free items to help promote your music.

For starters, you could run a giveaway on your social media page and offer a free CD to a select few people who share your page or whoever brings in the most likes for your page.

Secondly, you could offer a few songs for free download on your website. This way, people who head to your website can sample your music and hear what it is that you have to offer.

Hook Up with Other Artists and Online Radio Stations

You can promote your music by connecting with other artists and radio stations. Other artists will promote your music in return for you promoting them. There is a strong music community and you will find the support system is large and wide.

Once you have made a few connections, you may even be able to get other artists to appear in your music videos or sing a line or chorus in your songs.

You can also work with radio stations to promote your music. To do this, you should call up a local radio station and provide them with free CDs or free tickets to an upcoming concert. The radio station will hold giveaways and people can win your CD or tickets this way.

Make Your Fans Important

Who wants to listen to a musician who does not care about his or her fans? No one. Remember, you are never too busy to talk to your fans and spend some time with them. You should sit down a couple of times a week and answer emails and comments from your fans.

You could also host a live chat even where you stream video of yourself and talk to your fans in real time. Fans like this kind of stuff and they feel that they are able to connect with you on a personal level.

Make Sure People Can Buy Your Music

It would be pretty pointless to go through all of these steps and then find out that no one can purchase your music. If a fan goes to your website and cannot buy your music, they will lose interest in you. You do not want this to happen, so it is important that you make sure your fans can purchase your music and that there are no problems when they attempt to check out.

Also, you could offer something in addition to the purchase of the CD. For example, if your fan purchases a CD, maybe you could sign it for them or you could offer a free poster in conjunction with the CD.

Be Different and Stand Out

Many musicians do the same things and none of them really stand out from each other. You do not want to simple blend into the crowd. You should do something that makes yourself stand out from the rest. For example, maybe you could hold a meet and greet in your local town or you could arrange to have a CD signing somewhere. When you put your fans first and do out of the box activities, people notice and they will be drawn to you.

If you are a musician or you have music to promote, you should focus on your fans first and your music second. Everything else will fall into place for you and soon everyone will know about your music.
